Hand Sewing

Techniques demonstrated and taught will include applique, hand quilting and foundation piecing.

For the first session if you have a project in mind and know what you want
to do bring it along, otherwise I will be showing examples and demonstrating
some of the techniques for you to try out.

Please bring with you:

For hand quilting:
Materials to make a fat quarter sandwich - 2 plain coloured fat quarters and
a piece of wadding the same size
Quilting needles
Quilting thread
Quilting hoop if you have one - don't buy one specially for the first
session then you can find out what size works best for you.
Basic hand sewing kit including scissors, needles, thread, marking
pens/pencils etc

For applique

A fat quarter of plain background fabric - usually cream or light coloured
to start with
Co-ordinating pieces from your stash to cut the applique motifs from
Freezer paper

Don't worry if you don't have all the right tools on the first session -
quilters are a friendly lot and happy to share and lend items. I will be

doubt grab your basic sewing kit and just come along - we can take it from
there.
